What happens in the body:
- Ruksha = dryness in joints, skin, colon
- Khara = roughness in bones, loss of density
- Laghu = lightness (muscle loss, weight loss)
- Chala = instability (tremors, imbalance, anxiety)
- Shita = coldness ( poor circulation, digestion)
Modern parallel: Sarcopenia, osteopenia, constipation, insomnia, anxiety, slower metabolism, gut dysbiosis.
Aging is not a disease rather it is an imbalance of the vata dosha . Ayurveda’s goal for seniors – (Vata Shamanam & Ojas Vardhanam = age gracefully, not painfully)
Why Preventive Care Beats Reactive Care After 60 ?

| Reactive Approach | Ayurvedic Preventive Approach | Benefits |
|---|---|---|
| Knee pain → Knee replacement | Janu Basti + Abhyanga (monthly) → Nourish Asthi | Avoid surgery, stay mobile |
| Constipation → Daily laxatives | Anuvasana Basti + Takra → Restore Apana Vayu | Natural bowel movement, no dependency |
| Insomnia → Sleeping pills | Shirodhara + Brahmi Vati → Calm Prana Vayu | Better sleep, no side effects |
| Fracture → Calcium pills | Ksheerabala + Majja Basti → Strengthen Asthi Dhatu | Help prevent fractures |
Prevention is Independence. Every 1 year of prevention like a 5 years of better quality life.
